PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by convenor Elvis Gomes, general secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar along with volunteers on Monday marched to the office of the Chief Electrical Engineer (CEE) Neelkanth Reddy and launched a direct attack on him for the continued extension in service despite retirement.

AAP also submitted a memorandum to the CEE drawing his attention to power failures and burnt a copy of the government order increasing electricity charges claiming it was harsh.

“As the CEE you are enjoying extension upon extension. Are you not damaging the prospects of other officers who are being deprived of their rights? AAP demands that notwithstanding government of Goa’s desire, you should gracefully leave the department,” Gomes told the CEE.

He added, “We were here to highlight just one test case and that is of Electricity Department, which has miserably failed to provide uninterrupted power to the people. Now that Ganesh Chaturthi is nearing, at least see that power doesn’t go off.”

He further said that the memorandum submitted to the CEE, also highlights the dilapidated condition of the staff quarters of the department in various places.
