After Herald report, Mapusa councillor hot-mixes bad road

MAPUSA: The JICA-funded sewerage network project in Mapusa has left most of the town’s roads damaged.
On Saturday, Councillor Franky Carvalho took up hot-mixing of a road leading from Mapusa Court to the District Hospital at Peddem. Taking cognizance of a Herald report a week ago on the bad state of roads, the councillor acted swiftly.
“We have undertaken the work of hot-mixing the road in places where the condition was very bad. Potholes have been filled and the road is in a better condition now. Earlier, when the JICA-sewerage work was done, the patch work was carried out haphazardly and hence the road turned bad,” Franky said.
“Post monsoon we will be hot-mixing of this entire stretch Mapusa Court to District Hospital, Peddem. The parking area within Mapusa District Hospital will also be hot-mixed out as soon as all the required permission is in place and process is followed,” he added.
