CURCHOREM: A major tragedy was averted due to the alertness and immediate action of petrol pump employees, when their petrol tank caught fire on Friday evening.

According to sources, the mouth of the petrol storage tank was open when petrol was being unloaded from a tanker, when the outer part caught fire as a result of a spark from the silencer of the motorbike of a person.

“Our employees noticed it and immediately doused the fire, using fire extinguishers,” the owner Aslam said. It is learnt that later fire tenders too reached the site, but fire was doused by the employees before they arrived.
