VALPOI: An ammonia tanker proceeding from Belgaum to Pissurlem Industrial Estate overturned while negotiating a sharp turn at Chorla Ghat on Monday night.

The injured driver was shifted to the Primary Health Centre, Sanquelim and he is reportedly out of danger.

Fire personnel from Valpoi and Bicholim fire stations rushed to the site and transferred the ammonia to another container safely.

The mishap caused a major traffic jam, which was cleared only on Tuesday morning at around 5 o’clock by the Bicholim Traffic cell personnel under the guidance of Police Inspector Deepak Pednekar.
