Assess existing load and apply for excess, Power consumers told

Team Herald

PANJIM: Electricity Department in a public notice on Wednesday has asked consumers to assess their existing load and apply for excess load within 30 days failing which action will be initiated.

“It has been observed that the recent power supply failures, mostly along the coastal belts, could be attributed to the increase of the consumer loads above the sanctioned loads, resulting in overloading and tripping of associated supply lines and transformers,” the notice by Chief Electrical Engineer (CEE) Neelkanth Reddy states.

It adds that all consumers are informed to assess their existing load with respect to the sanctioned load and to apply for increase in load as per the clause 6.4 of ‘conditions of supply in cases where the consumer load has exceeded the sanctioned load.

In case the consumer fails to apply for the increase of load within 30 days, necessary procedure as mentioned in Section 10 (Unauthorized Use of Electricity & Theft of Electricity) of ‘conditions of supply’ will be initiated.

The department has also informed that that the consumers may visit concerned Division/Sub-division for details or visit the website www.goaelectricity.gov.in for conditions of supply.
