PANJIM: The BJP alliance partners in the State have given a mixed response to the poll results in the five northern states of the country, where the saffron brigade has experienced a setback.

Reacting to the election results announced today, Sardesai said GFP has nothing to do or say about the elections in Madhya Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan or anywhere else.

“You should ask BJP about that. We have no mind space to be happy or unhappy about events that do not concern Goa or Goemkars,” he said.

“This is a good time to remember that the Goa government exists because of our support to Parrikar not to BJP,” he added.

“Our ideology, our concerns and our political activities begin and end with Goa and the welfare of Goemkars,” he said.

Sardesai said he sees no change in Goa based on election result anywhere else. Also on leadership change he has reiterated there is no question of change in leadership as of now.

On the other hand, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party said that outcome shows BJP needs to take alliance partners into confidence otherwise they have no future in Goa.

“I once again reiterate that the BJP should hand over the charge of CM to the senior most leader for smooth functioning of administration,” Party president Dipak Dhavalikar said.

He refused to say anything further saying “let the time come”.

The BJP State unit, however seemed to be very cautious on the failure in Rajashthan and Chhatisgarh.

However, the party says there would be no bearing on the Lok Sabha elections.

“Though we lost in Chhattisgarh badly it wasn’t as bad what was predicted in Rajasthan. Despite the anti-incumbency the BJP has been able to give up a good showing,” BJP State general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade told Herald .

On whether the results could have any bearing in state politics, he said, “why should there be any impact in Goa? Our alliance partners are firmly in the saddle and nobody can dislodge us.”

He also replied in the negative on any decision on leadership change.
