BICHOLIM: At least 30 people from Bicholim confronted the PWD officials on Friday over irregular water supply to several areas in the town.

The residents hailed from Muslimwada, Vathadev, Bandarwada which have been facing water shortage since last one month and that too during the rainy season.

The residents demanded a specific assurance as to when the problem would be solved.

The PWD officials in turn blamed the workers from Padosem water treatment plant who, they said, do not turn up for duty and that was the reason for irregular water supply.

However, Herald inquires revealed that 49 workers were on regular duty at Padosem plant since last more than three months despite not receiving their salaries. “We are regularly doing our duty and it was the fault of the PWD. The pipeline and the valve are old and this is the reason there is irregular water supply,” a worker from Padosem said.

Meanwhile, after the commotion at PWD, the Padosem plant workers were paid their salary in the evening after about three months.
