B’luru native held for mobile phone theft

Unnatural death case booked following the demise of a passenger who fell off the train last night near Pernem

MARGAO: Konkan Railway Police on Monday arrested a Bangalore native for stealing a mobile and registered an unnatural death case following the demise of a passenger who fell off the train last night near Pernem.

Police arrested 28 year old Pramod Kulkarni from Bangalore for stealing a mobile phone belonging to Sayed Mohammad from Bangalore, who had kept his mobile for charging in the waiting room at the Margao Railway Station.

Pramod was one of the other persons in the waiting room at that time and upon questioning by the police he admitted to having stolen the mobile which was not with him as he had passed it on to somebody else. Police are now trying to trace that person.

UNNATURAL DEATH: A case of unnatural death was registered on Monday morning following the death of an unknown passenger who fell off the Jamnagar-Tirunelveli train at around 11:40 pm last night and was later rushed to Asilo Hospital.  From Asilo he was rushed to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning. The police are seeking his identity.

In another case registered on Saturday, an unknown person was found dead near the Majorda Railway Station at around 4 am. The man was wearing a white T-shirt and a grey track pant and is believed to have died after falling off a train.
