PANJIM: Panjim Police on Wednesday raided the office premises of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) in connection with a case of forgery filed against Corporator Uday Madkaikar and Geeta Madkaikar.

Former CCP Commissioner Melvyn Vaz had filed a complaint with Panjim police after an occupancy certificate was issued to Geeta whose power of attorney was with Uday.

In the complaint he stated that the criminal act came to the fore when he received a communication from a lawyer friend. “The documents of occupancy given to Geeta Madkaikar were fraud, forged and got up ones,” he said, adding that he had declined to grant occupancy to Geeta.

Vaz then lodged a police complaint against Uday Madkaikar, Deepak Satardekar and other corporators. He had also alleged the involvement of a dealing hand from CCP in the offence.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered on Tuesday followed by a raid on Wednesday wherein the CCP office was searched and occupancy documents seized. Two persons who were the dealing hands were also quizzed.
