CCP urged to go online, use more tech

Panjim: Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza on Thursday urged the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to move towards an online platform and also use more technology.

The Minister went to say that the corporation has to bring in change and make systems effective and be more transparent towards the public.

On the 175th anniversary of the city, D’Souza also released a special philatelic cover designed by the Postal Department.

“CCP has to function online while nothing should be done manually. We are in an information technology driven era and have to move towards it. We have to use technology and new international trends to help the public,” D’Souza said.

He added that the government has named Panjim as a smart city of Goa, but all should help in making it smart in every aspect.

Postmaster General, Goa Region, Dr N Vinod Kumar said that he has worked in many parts of the world and felt that Panjim was one of the most beautiful cities.

EDC Chairman and former Panjim MLA Siddarth Kuncaliencar said, “The journey started 200 years ago when it was all sand dunes, however, today it is the capital city of Goa. Over the years people from around the State came to Panjim and settled which we have to be proud of.”

Panjim Mayor Vithal Chopdekar said that Panjim being the capital has many government offices, business houses and cultural hubs, hence it was important for the administration and the residents to provide the best of infrastructure.
