PANJIM: After a turbulent flight to power, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will present the 2017-18 Budget in the Goa Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Parrikar is expected to seek a vote on account for three months and the full-fledged budget would be passed during the Monsoon session of the Assembly.

Parrikar on Wednesday said that the Budget 2017-18 has been drafted considering the concerns of the people in the State. Parrikar, who had less than ten days in hand to prepare the Budget document, assured that the ‘Budget would be people friendly with minimum pinch (taxation) and maximum delivery’.

Parrikar was sworn in as Chief Minister on March 14 with drafting of the Budget being his foremost challenge. “I had very less time to draft the Budget, so many of the things might not find place in it but it will indicate some of the policy decisions,” he said.

Refusing to comment on the financial stability of the State, the Chief Minister said the Budget will spell the State’s financial position.
