Team Herald

BAGA: Around 70 students from Peoples High School, Calangute on Sunday cleared the garbage strewn along the Baga beach.

The students cleared Baga beach’s 300-metre long stretch and collected 25 bags of garbage which included bottles, packets, bags, sanitary napkins and other hazardous materials.

The children were divided into ten groups. The drive started at 8.30 am from Nistekarocho Khuris at Baga and concluded near Tito's at 12 pm.

Although it is off-season, yet there was a lot of garbage strewn along the beach. Being a holiday, it was a good initiative on behalf of the principal and students by participating in this social responsibility programme.

The drive was organized by Calangute Foundation, JCI Calangute, Don Bosco Green Alliance and Calangute Constituency Forum in collaboration with Peoples High School. The organisers’ next plan is to clean Calangute beach in collaboration with another school from the area.
