MARGAO: Fed up with the fact that there has been no action for more than a year over the promised denotification of the State Highway No 8 passing through their village, residents of Chandor-Cavorim have now sought the help of former MLA Joaquim Alemao over the matter.

“We have been fighting for denotification of the State Highway passing through our village for the last nearly one and a half year and there have been no tangible achievements except promises by all concerned,” said Chandor Cavorim Sarpanch Celina Coelho Furtado who also took pains to explain that the movement against the State Highway was apolitical.

“We shall approach anybody who can help us and so far we have approached ministers and the local MLA who have all promised to help us, but it is frustrating that nothing concrete is happening,” said Joy D’Silva a villager. Referring to the Regional Plans of 2011 and 2021 he said the state highway was not shown in their village but had a totally different alignment.
