MARGAO: A coconut tree fell on a house near Khareband in Margao causing extensive damage to the house that is actually occupied by two different families but fortunately there were no injuries.

At around 1.30 in the afternoon the coconut tree that has been neglected for some time now, suddenly crashed on the house that is occupied by the Kunkalienkar and Chari families causing major damage to the portion occupied by the Kunkalienkars.

While tiles have been broken in both portions, the rafters are extensively damaged and even the walls have developed cracks in the portion occupied by Laxmikant Kunkalienkar. In fact Laxmikant had repaired his house last year by replacing the aged rafters which have now been damaged again.

“We have not been able to repay the loan taken to carry out the repairs last year and we are now burdened with this problem,” lamented Mrs Kunkalienkar.
