CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) has filed a complaint against unknown people for dumping garbage illegally at Panzorconi dry waste collection Centre.

Chief Officer Shankar Gaonkar in his complaint has directed Cuncolim police to book those dumping wet garbage at Panzorconi collection centre and has requested police to conduct regular patrolling and keep vigil to apprehend miscreants who dump garbage.

Waste management Corporation and Science and technology department is collecting plastic and dry garbage on NH17. The Corporation has given the contract to rival contractor to collect dry garbage on NH17. The contractor had erected an iron cage at NH17 near Panzorconi, were he stored dry waste. Taking advantage of this many people dumped unsegregated wet waste near the cage. Some hotel owners and other business people of neigbouring villages too dumped garbage here at night.

The place now stinks and locals have complained to the council on several occasions, but council failed to keep check. Now the Council wants to put the responsibility on the police.

Meanwhile, sources from Pollution Control Board told Herald that they are not getting enough dry waste garbage from Cuncolim Municipal Council.
