VASCO: Pained after the Congress ditched the NCP, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Goa Chief Jose Philip D’Souza who is also the party candidate from Vasco, on Sunday, vowed to take on the Congress during ensuing Goa Polls, terming them as betrayers. He was speaking to reporters during his door-to-door campaigning at Islampura in Vasco on Sunday.

“I know this Congress since 2002 and I never used to believe them, because I know how they had ditched me in the 2002 assembly polls by fielding candidate against me in Vasco. They have done the same now,” said D’Souza.

He further said, “If they wanted to break the alliance with NCP they should have intimated to us before, however, they played a dirty game by maintaining suspense till late moment which is not acceptable and we are ready to react with our future plans.”

D’Souza further added: “I feel Congress is more dangerous and worse than BJP. People should not trust such a party as they (Congress) are hand in glove with somebody and they are working with some hidden agenda which could be to help BJP to come to power by dividing votes in constituencies where NCP is strong”

“Also Congress probably had internal alliance with BJP and that could be one reason they ditched us like this when we were waiting for some positive news from their side,” he claimed.

Commenting on NCP’s future plans after alliance talks were futile, he said that “NCP has planned to put over 15 candidates and this fight would now be between NCP versus BJP-Congress combined. We will also put up our candidates even in Mormugao and Dabolim constituency”.
