PANJIM: Congress has termed Goa Forward Party's (GFP) move to join hands with Shiv Sena to bring political earthquake in Goa as "frustration for power".

Addressing media persons on Monday, Goa Congress spokesperson Trajano D'Mello said the Pramod Sawant-led government will collapse on its own as there is growing discomfort within the BJP party.

He added that the announcement made by GFP Chief Vijai Sardesai of wanting to replicate the Maharashtra model in Goa by getting like-minded people together is mere "frustration for power".

"What like-minded people he is talking about? He is just targeting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and not BJP as a party. Also, he continues to be part of the NDA-led union government," he said.

D'Mello said that Sardesai's announcement in Delhi was just a cautionary note to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, about the growing unhappiness within the ruling camp in Goa. "He acted like a saviour of BJP and hence, he is now demanding a cabinet berth," he added.

Calling Sardesai as a "liar" and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte a "thug",  D’Mello

questioned why they were silent during their time under the Sawant government for three months - that is before they were kicked out. "Why did they support Sawant as Chief Minister? They are angry now only because they are unable to loot," he charged.

D'Mello further claimed that there was happiness across the State when Sardesai and Khaunte had been dropped the cabinet.

"People have warned us against joining hands with these traitors," he said, while refusing to be part of the Shiv Sena-led front to topple the State government.

He added that within the BJP, there is a group of 15 MLAs who are working on a strategy to get on onboard another three MLAs and then move out of the government.
