MAPUSA: Responding to the residents of Dangui Colony in Mapusa, who have threatened to close the roads in their ward on Wednesday due to their bad condition, Councillor Madhumita Narvekar said that the work of repairing the roads could not commence as the contractor failed to submit his performance guarantee till date.

Narvekar told Herald that hot-mixing of the roads leading from Andrew Hall to Hill Crowns apartments and from Indira Garden to Housing Board along with the connecting internal roads was proposed in 2016. “Due to technical hitches, the approval for the same was delayed for a considerable time. After obtaining the technical and administrative approval, the work was put to tender in January 2018 and the tender was opened on February 2, 2018. The file was then moved to the Government for acceptance of tender. After which the file was again processed for financial approval in April 2018 which was granted in June 2018,” she said.

However, no work order was issued due to the monsoon and also because the contractor failed to submit his performance guarantee till date.
