Dhargal to host Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Naturopathy Research Centre

PORVORIM: The State’s first All India Institute of Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Naturopathy Research Centre with medical college will be set up at Dhargal in Pernem taluka, which will also house Ayush Hospital.

PORVORIM: The State’s first All India Institute of Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Naturopathy Research Centre with medical college will be set up at Dhargal in Pernem taluka, which will also house Ayush Hospital. 

“To cater to the needs of the medical students, government has proposed to set up project of All India Institute of Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Naturopathy Research Centre with medical college at Dhargal,” the Economic Survey 2016-17 tabled on the Floor of the House on Thursday, reads.  

The report states that the government has started to propagate development of Ayush system of medicine in the State and accordingly, various health centers have started Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic dispensaries.

“Government has proposed to set up two 50-bed integrated Ayush hospitals – one at Dhargal and another at Macazana in Curtorim under National Ayush Mission,” the report states. 

Land has already been allotted by State government for this purpose. Amount of Rs 425.52 lakh has been approved till date for the two hospitals by the Central government.

“State has been able to develop a good network of health care facilities in rural as well as urban areas, ensuring that quality treatment is provided to the people,” the report states.

The report highlights the construction of 500 bedded new District Hospital at South Goa, upgradation work of cottage hospital at Chicalim, PHC at Cansaulim and Curchorem and CHC at Pernem. 

Government has approved upgradation of RMD to PHC at Pirna with a new 10-12 bed facility building. Also approval for extension of PHC Candolim and Siolim is accorded.
