Doctors stir today; emergency, casualty open

PANJIM: As part of nation-wide strike call given by Indian Medical Association (IMA), its Goa branch has decided to shutdown non-essential medical services on June 17 from 6 am to 6 pm in the State.

The doctors are protesting against assault on their counterparts in West Bengal. IMA Goa member, Dr Shekhar Salkar said that emergency and casualty services will remain open during the strike.

“Also all IMA doctors will be available for all emergencies if need be,” he said. 

The doctors are also planning to have silent morcha in Panjim at 10 am on Monday starting from Azad Maidan, Panjim to Old GMC complex. 

The Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane extended his support to the protesting doctors while demanding a law to be enacted to provide protection to doctors and medical professionals across country.
