Drunken drivers rams against many two wheelers

VASCO: As many as six people including a woman and a senior citizen were injured when a Scorpio jeep driven allegedly by an inebriated person rammed into several two wheelers at two different locations in Vasco on Tuesday.

VASCO: As many as six people including a woman and a senior citizen were injured when a Scorpio jeep driven allegedly by an inebriated person rammed into several two wheelers at two different locations in Vasco on Tuesday.

According to Vasco police, the incident reported at about 8 pm when the unknown driver of Scorpio car allegedly under influence of alcohol drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and while proceeding towards Chicalim from Headland Sada first rammed into a two wheeler near El Monte theatre which was proceeding in same direction and then dashed against two other two wheelers which were also proceeding in same direction near Max mall (Madina Masjid) at Vasco. 

A total of six person suffered injuries and they all were rushed to cottage hospital at Chicalim where they are presently undergoing treatment. 

Police informed that the after injuring several people, the accused driver fled from the spot leaving his vehicle at Vasco. Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo informed that a police team is trying to locate the accused driver while a case would be registered in the matter.

Those injured in the accident are one Vishal Harijan (22), a minor Tukaram Harijan (15) of MMC staff quarters, Vasco, Vasu Mesta (62), Vidhya Mesta (58), Sagar Parab (26) and Balkrishna  A. They were later discharged from the hospital. 

Meanwhile, Mormugoa as well as Vasco police have Registered the case under Sections 279, 337 of IPC & Sec 134 (a)(b) of MV Act.
