Employment policy to give jobs for every youth soon: CM

Parrikar in his speech via a video message from US said in the coming one or two years there will be no unemployed youth in Goa

PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said the State will  announce an employment policy ensuring jobs for every youth and said that he is positive that in the coming one or two years, there will be no unemployed youth in Goa.

Parrikar, who is currently in the USA for his medical check-up pertaining to the pancreatic ailment, has released his Independence Day speech via a video message. Chief Minister is expected to be back in Goa, by this week end. 

“This year, we have planned a new action plan for employment for our local youth involving affirmative action. This includes providing incentives and subsidies to the industries, which gives priority to employ locals,” Parrikar said in his message. 

“With this, I am hopeful that in the coming one or two years, there will be no unemployed youth in Goa,” he said adding ‘we will soon be announcing our employment policy, which will create the much needed enthusiasm amongst our younger generation’. 

The Chief Minister  thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for their assistance and support in helping the coastal state to achieve the growth.  He has also thanked the Central government for large-scale infrastructural projects to the tune of Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 crore. 

"Today, Goa has reached a different level altogether at every parameter. Let us talk about infrastructure. Today, with the Mandovi bridge, Zuari bridge, national highway expansion, Mopa airport , etc. While Mandovi bridge will be completed by December-end this year, the other projects are set to be completed within the schedule of next two years,” he stated. 

He said that commissioning of Mopa Greenfield international airport will help reduce congestion at Dabolim international airport. “We are confident that Modi-led government support at the Centre will continue even in the next coming years,” Parrikar commented. 

Parrikar also said that efforts were on to improve the quality of education in the state. “Along with value education, civic sense, personal hygiene, traffic sense, garbage management are also being taught in schools, so that the values inculcated at a young age can help create a new Goa," he stated. 

While ending his speech, the Chief Minister urged people of Goa to continue their support to government.
