MARGAO: Taking cognizance of the incident at Hospicio on Friday, Margao MLA Digamber Kamat visited the hospital and inspected the building. 

Kamat spoke to the health minister and has drawn his attention to the crumbling infrastructure of the Hospicio. 

On Friday, a part of the Hospicio hospital gallery wrought iron grill had suddenly collapsed from the first floor and landed on to the head of a woman grievously injuring her.                  

Taking cognizance of the incident, Kamat visited the hospital. 

Kamat told reporters that he informed Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane that the beams and columns on the third floor has got very dilapidated and can fall any time.

When asked if anything can be done to strengthen the Hospicio structure, Kamat said, “The Hospico Hospital is a heritage structure and no reconstruction can be done to it for now. At the most some repairs can be done.”
