FDA files complaint against unknown person

MARGAO: FDA Officer Rajaram Patil who was at the Polem check post at 12.15am on August 8 along with other FDA officials, filed a complaint against an unknown person under Section 353 of IPC at the Canacona Police Station.  The officer alleged that the unknown person had prevented his staff from discharging their lawful duties and gave comments to the media.

Interestingly, the complaint was filed at around 3.30 pm more than 9 hours after the incident on August 8. The whistle blower, Sanjeev Raiturkar had introduced himself to the FDA officers before pointing out the irregularities in their procedure.

“They are trying to silence people who are standing up for public safety”, said Raiturkar. “By targeting me, they are only proving that they have been embarrassed because I exposed the truth,” he said. He further said that people will lose faith in the FDA and will stop eating fish altogether. “If fish vendors lose customers, only FDA has to be blamed”, he added.
