FDA shuts down operations at Curlies Shack

ANJUNA: Acting strongly on alleged illegal activities at Curlies Shack in Anjuna, the government scanned the establishment with the help of multiple agencies on Thursday.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided the shack and sealed the restaurant’s operations following extreme unhygienic conditions.

FDA Director Dr Salim Velji said that the owner of the restaurant has been directed to close the operations with immediate effect. He said the premises were operating under extreme unhygienic conditions and food handlers were found not following basic hygiene. 

FDA further found that storage of food items as well as intermediate items was done under unhygienic conditions and cooking was done in an open area.

Velji said that the FSSAI license was also not available with the operator. He said the FDA team found 30 deficiencies in all at Curlies Shack. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Mahesh Gaonkar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer said that a Police team is also checking all other licenses including the license from Excise Department.
