COLVA: The traditional Fama of Infant Jesus was celebrated at Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva on Monday.

The church has got an unique distinction of being the only church where FAMA is celebrated. Before the Novenas, the blessing of the Maddi(banner)takes place  with pomp and gaiety, after which the feast is celebrated.

As is the case every year, hundreds of devotees were stood in the queue to kiss the Holy statue of Menino Jesus, as early as 6 am.

Parish priest of Colva Church Fr Joseph Assumption da Silva was the main celebrant at the 5.30 am high Mass.  

Fr Joseph stressed on the life of Menino Jesus and requested devotees to forgive one other and live in peace, harmony and joy. 

After the first Mass, the statue of Menino Jesus was brought down from the special altar dedicated to Menino Jesus, after which it was taken for procession.
