PONDA: Meanwhile, the farmers of 170 societies that supply milk to the Goa Dairy have decided to launch an agitation on April 24, to protest against alleged scams and mismanagement of the Dairy and demand appointment of an administrator.

The protest will be held in front of the premises of Goa Dairy, at Usgao, wherein the farmers would also demand a fair probe into the alleged scams in Goa Dairy.

The farmers say that the clashes between the Board of Directors and the management have affected their interest.

Meanwhile, The Managing Director of Goa Dairy, Dr Navso Sawant, has asserted that he was not worried about the inquiry ordered by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies into the affairs of the milk producer, as, he maintained, the allegations against him were baseless.

Dr Sawant was responding to queries over the appointment of a chartered accountant (CA), on Friday, to conduct an enquiry into the affairs of Goa Dairy.

Sawant went on to say that he was even ready for an inquiry that covered the past ten-year affairs of Goa Dairy.

When asked whether the tumultuous situation in Goa Dairy has affected its day-to-day functioning, Dr Sawant said, “The Dairy is functioning as usual.”
