VASCO: Five cars were damaged in an accident opposite JCB showroom at Verna on Sunday morning. No one was injured in the accident.

According to the Verna police, to lay down underground water pipeline across NH 17 road, the Goa IDC contractor recently completed the task of cutting the road and even tarred the damaged portion of the road after completion of the work. However, since the tarring work was not done properly, the tarred portion resembles like a speed breaker.

Thus on Sunday morning at about 10 am, the driver of Range Rover car applied sudden brake when he noticed the obstruction resemble like a speed-breaker at Verna IDC junction. Four other cars that were proceeding in same direction and were behind the Range Rover then rammed into each other on National Highway-17.

“The driver of Range Rover car applied brake believing that the obstruction in front is a new speed breaker. Therefore, two Maruti Swift cars, a Toyota Innova and a Hyundai Verna that were trailing the Range Rover rammed into each other. However no one was injured in the accident though loss of property was high,” police said.
