PANJIM: Mines Department on Wednesday informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that they have constituted flying squads for Salcete, Sanguem, Quepem, Mormugao, Canacona and Dharbandora to keep watch on illegal sand extraction.

It also informed the High Court that Captain of Ports and Coastal Security Police will provide patrolling boats to the squads.

The High Court on Monday had criticised the government for not making functional the patrolling cum flying squad to monitor and control sand mining in Goa.
