Food production unit raided in Mapusa

MAPUSA: Food and Drugs Administration team raided Sunder Food Products, a food production unit, at Gavliwada-Duler, Mapusa, on Friday morning.

MAPUSA: Food and Drugs Administration team raided Sunder Food Products, a food production unit, at Gavliwada-Duler, Mapusa, on Friday morning.

The raiding team destroyed contaminated and expired stocks worth Rs 2 lakh

During the raid, FDA team found that food was being prepared in an unhygienic condition using expired products. The products were not properly packed with labels and dates. 

FDA also found the material used preparing snacks was in bad condition, outdated and expired. Also, snacks were being prepared using washing powder to expand their size.

The workers were not wearing proper attire and were not maintaining personal hygiene. It was also found that food products were being prepared near toilet and also found bottles of alcohol in the premise.

Products were packed with no labels which were ready for dispatch. Some of the stock was also having fungal growth.

FDA destroyed contaminated and expired products worth Rs 2 lakh issued the owner a stop notice.  FDA also collected sample for further inspection. The unit is owned by one Chaganlal Prajyopati.

Meanwhile, the FDA team inspected 60 buses parked at Mapusa bus stand to check if mava is being transported.

FDA team consisted of Rajiv Korde, Richard Noronha, Atul Desai, Mahadev Kavlekar, Amit Mandrekar, Arjun Naik and Sainath Mandrekar.
