MARGAO: “The status of Goa Forward Party can only go forward now,” said party supremo Vijai Sardessai while congratulating the people of Goa for voting in such large numbers at the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday.

“It is indeed a great turn out considering the fact that none of the political parties involved in the elections did much mobilization to get voters to the polling booth,” he said adding that the fact that people came on their own to vote shows the political maturity of the Goan electorate.

He refused to comment on the likely results by pointing out that the fate is already decided and it will be known a month later. “I am not into betting and speculating on the candidates’ fate is of interest only to those who bet,” he said.

However, he said whatever may be the result of the elections, the status of Goa Forward Party in Goan politics will only move forward with there being no scope absolutely of going backward.
