GSIDC, EDC sign MoU on CMRY for engineers, contractors

PANJIM: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) and Economic Development Corporation (EDC) on Monday. 

This was done to set up a platform and as a encouragement to the budding entrepreneurs in the field of civil engineering and to extend the benefit of the existing Chief Minister’s Rojgar Yojna (CMRY) Scheme. The scheme will now be extended to the contractors possessing degree or diploma in any engineering field for enabling them to take up works of GSIDC.

GSIDC has taken up several projects to complete the work of maintenance, repairs and up-gradation of about 914 government schools in the state of which 304 schools have already benefitted costing GSIDC Rs 60 crore. This project will continue for 4-5 years and the new engineers and contractors will be primarily engaged in this job.

Since the launch of CMRY Schemes in 2002, EDC has imparted loans to over 7000 people in the state and has disbursed Rs 175 crore of which Rs 100 crore have already been recovered.
