MAPUSA: Chairman of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) Ganesh Shetgaonkar said they would conduct the public hearing on Nauxi marina project and accordingly the people would have to put forth their grievances.

“We do not have any role to play. The only thing is that our people will conduct the public hearing and forward everything. Not a single page will be left here. All the minutes and video recording will be sent to MoEF. We are just doing the job of a postman. The project proponent has proposed to us with study report which we have submitted to District Magistrate,” he said.

Addressing media persons on Monday, Ganesh said their job is only to conduct public hearing, record, minute whatever are the grievances of the public and send to MoEF.

“I want to clear that unless they put up their grievances and objections, how will the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) know that this project is being opposed by the people. The concern should go to MoEF after which they will decide. If you cancel the hearing then a single line will go to them that the public hearing is cancelled. That will clear their job in a better way to issue the Environment Clearance (EC),” the GSPCB Chairman said.

“They are the ones who have to take a call. We have nothing to do but as per Supreme Court order we have to do this job as a State Pollution Control Board,” the chairman  added.
