Vasco: Councillor Kritesh Naik Gaonkar was elected Chairperson of the Mormugao Municipal Council, on Wednesday. Thirteen Councillors voted in favour of Gaonkar in the 25-member council.

After the election, Gaonkar said that he would look into the actions of Bhavana Nanoskar during her tenure as chairperson. 

A close aid of Minister Milind Naik, Gaonkar has asserted that he would make sure that he continues till the end of the term which is two years from now. “There is a lot of work that needs to be completed in Vasco and that is why we need a stable and a mature council. We will get all the works done in the next two years,” he said.

On the occasion, former chairperson Deepak Naik said, “I hope this council remains stable; I provided stability by completing three years as chairperson in the current in the council. They are on a slender majority and only time will tell what happens with the new Chair.”
