PONDA: Art and Cultural Minister Govind Gaude inspected the site identified for construction of cattle shelter for stray cattle in Veling Priol Cuncoliem Panchayat. Sarpanch Laxmikant Khedekar and Panchas accompanied the minister.

Gaude said several cattle are being injured after being hit by vehicles. “The strays also pose nuisance to the public. In the absence of caretakers, Gaude said with the initiative of the local panchayat he took up the initiative of building a pound for the strays and acquired around 5,000 sq m to construct a shelter for the stray cattle.

The project will reportedly be run with help of an NGO. He said “All efforts will be made to provide food for the stray cattle. Beside, a garbage plant will also be set up in the locality. The panchayat is also planning to acquire some more land for grazing and to provide fodder for stray cattle.”
