The hunger strike of Jagruk Canconkars entered its third and final day with the fasting activists sticking to their earlier demand of written assurance from the authorities that they would take to effectively dispose the garbage collected from the households, commercial establishments and other places from the jurisdiction of Canacona municipal area.

Later, speaking to the media, Chodankar said that the striking members of Jagruk Canconkars are not asking for jobs, schemes, government doles nor personnel benefits, but better collection and disposal of garbage post collection and clean environment.

He informed that if time arises, he along with his organisation would not hesitate to physically assist so that Canaconkars get clean and green environment.

On the occasion, Chodankar appreciated local MLA Isidore Fernandes as he showed a file full of communication to authorities in connection with the state of the garbage treatment plant at Dumane and the need to urgently sort out the issues.

Later, in the evening speaking to this correspondent Sandesh Telekar, one of the agitating member of Jagruk Canconkars, said that they didn’t receive desired response from the authorities and as said earlier they would continue the hunger strike to an indefinite period till they get written assurance from the higher authorities that the garbage issue would be tackled within a specified time frame.
