Govt sanctions 56 new posts in Directorate of Panchayats

PANJIM:  The State government has sanctioned the creation of 56 new posts in the Directorate of Panchayats. 

An order issued by Panchayats Director Ajit Panchwadkar states that the government has sanctioned the creation of 56 posts, including one post each of deputy director (administration), joint director accounts, assistant director accounts and assistant accounts officer. 

The other posts include block development officer (5), accountant (2), senior stenographer (2), executive engineer (2), assistant engineer (4), junior engineer (10), and extension officer – village panchayat (4), village panchayat secretary (11), head clerk (6) and lower division clerk (6). 

The government has abolished 27 vacant posts of gram sevaks in the department following recommendation by the High-Level Empowered Committee (HLEC) headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. “Total 27 vacant posts of gram sevaks (non-ministerial) (non-lapsable) are recommended to be abolished by the HLEC,” the Director said. 

The department has also decided to conduct the assessment of the vehicle fleet and accordingly review the strength of the drivers. 

As recommended by HLEC, the final sanctioned staff strength of the department is fixed as 619, that include 444 non-lapsable posts.
