CANACONA: Gusty winds accompanied by heavy rains since Saturday night threw normal life out of gear in Canacona taluka. Several places in the taluka witnessed power disruption as trees got uprooted and damaged electrical alignments.

With India Meteorology Department predicting high velocity winds and heavy rains in the coastal areas of Goa, Canacona witnessed eight trees being uprooted at various places resulting in road blockages and power outages putting the residents to inconveniences since Sunday morning.

The rain gauge station based near mamlatdar office in Canacona recorded 62.40mm rain from Sunday morning till Monday morning with total seasonal rainfall touching 1770mm which is much below the average rainfall of 2800mm received by the state.

In spite of many trees crashing down on residential houses, apart from financial losses there were no reports of injuries to humans.
