PANJIM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has issued heavy rainfall warning for the State for the next three days. Fishermen are also advised not to venture into sea owing to rough weather conditions.

The IMD Goa Observatory is yet to forecast the actual date for onset of South-West monsoon over the coast. The arrival of monsoon, which was initially expected on June 13, has been delayed due to cyclonic storm ‘Vayu’ that brought heavy rains to Goa also.

IMD in its weather bulletin issued on Saturday has issued heavy rainfall warning for the State for next three days till June 19. “Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated  places over North Goa & South Goa districts on June 17,18 and 19,” IMD said.

It has further said that the sea conditions are expected to be rough due to the gusty winds, which will be travelling at the speed of 40-45kmph. Hence, fishermen, especially along Vasco, are advised not to venture into the sea.
