PANJIM: BJP’s alliance partner Goa Forward Party have reiterated their commitment to be with the mining dependents in the time of crisis. GFP President Vijai Sardesai along with two other ministers Vinod Palyekar and Jayesh Salgaoncar and party’s Vice President Durgadas Kamat and Joint Secretary Santoshkumar Sawant met Goa Mining People’s Front at Ram Leela Maidan in New Delhi.

Taking a dig at BJP’s non-active leadership not taking a lead in finding a solution, Sardesai told the mining protestors that there’s no compromise on that, either with the central government or the state government.

“Unfortunately, up to now those in the Government are high on drama and low on action. What we need is action to give relief to 3 lakh people and restart an activity that is the mainstay of our Goan economy,” Sardesai said.

Sardesai also said the BJP should stop playing hide and seek with the mining dependents who are pinning their hopes on them for resumption of the activity.

“We question even those who are part of the establishment who can’t go beyond empty speeches and may be hoodwinking the miners, let them state if this is unsolvable and stop playing hide and seek with people’s livelihood,” Sardesai said.

He said that GFP will not pardon anyone if they are taking the miners for a ride. “Let them come out in the open. Then we will do what we have to do.”

“We reiterate that we will go to any extent if a decision is not found at the highest level. We are Goemkars (Goans) first before we are ministers and MLAs and the we do not intend to keep quiet if we see our fellow Goemkars suffering,” he said.

Sardesai said that GFP right from the beginning argued that an ordinance should be brought to correct the wrong done to the miners and their dependents. “We have given our word to them that we will exert pressure to bring about a favorable solution to this issue and we are willing to go to any extent if those making those decisions do not find a solution,” he said.
