VASCO: Slamming the BJP for its U-turns, AAP Chief Ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes said that BJP has undone all the works of late Matanhy Saldanha. Had Matanhy been alive, he would have left the BJP long ago and would have joined Aam Aadmi Party, said Elvis. He was addressing a public meeting in Cansaulim market on Saturday evening.

“Matanhy Saldanha was a firebrand activist who worked for common man and the way BJP has taken several U-turns during last five years, there is no doubt that if he were alive today, he would have left BJP and would have joined AAP for safeguarding the future of Goa and its environment which has been destroyed by the BJP,” he said.

Dr Oscar Rebello said, “We must only focus on saving Goa. The fight in Cortalim today is between Olencio and the rest who are hand in glove with the BJP.”

Custodio D’Souza, the president of Old Cross Canoe Owners Association from Khariwado, said, “Olencio has played a pivotal role in the lives of the fishermen in Goa. He has been instrumental in bringing all the small and traditional fishermen under one umbrella  ‘All Goa Fishermen Union’, thereby strengthening their bargaining power against unsustainable methods of fishing and destruction of marine ecology in Goa.”

“When we did not know that the MPT was conducting illegal dredging in Vasco, Olencio educated us about the same. Like his uncle, he has given his life for the fishermen. Without gaining power he has done so much, you can imagine the good he will do after coming to power,” he exhorted.

MTV fame and AAP volunteer Ragu Ram said, “The people of Goa are fed up with the BJP and the Congress, and that he is a volunteer of the Aam Aadmi Party only because of its firm stand on eliminating rogues and criminals.”
