PANJIM: Despite being dropped as a minister Mapusa MLA Francis D’Souza, who is undergoing treatment in US, on Tuesday said that how would attend the Floor Test, if given sufficient time.

Speaking to Herald from US, D’Souza said “My treatment has finished on October 10 and now they are just reviewing the condition. Once that is done I can leave from here anytime.”

On the current situation and possible floor test in case new CM is appointed, he said, “I will be always there. Irrespective of the past, I will be there for the party in the House, but I need to be given sufficient time.”

On his outbursts against party recently, he stated, “it was out of the heart, there is no grudge. The party is bigger than personal issues.”

Following ill-health of Parrikar and two others Pandurang Madkaikar and Francis D’Souza, the BJP is struggling for numbers in the 40-member assembly so much so that they have even shied away from naming new chief minister to avoid floor test.

However, the resignations of two Congress MLAs – Dayanand Sopte and Subash Shirodkar has given the BJP a breather.

Despite this though, BJP needs its sick MLAs to thwart any threat to the government on the floor of the House.

On the two Congress leaders joining BJP, he said, “it is their choice. In a democracy it isn’t illegal. They have legally resigned from their seats and joined.”
