CUNCOLIM: “It was the Congress party and our leaders who fought for India’s Independence and hence we are celebrating the fruits of being independent,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said speaking on the occasion of Independence Day. 

Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias hoisted the Tricolour in front of MLAs office at Cuncolim. Besides, Altino Gomes, Moti Dessai and other Congress leaders were present on this occasion.

Chodankar said all likeminded people must come together to protect “our identity and dignitary”.  Chodankar asserted the need to fight against the evils in the society. He appealed to the party workers to remain united and fight against the wrong practices of the government. He also criticised BJP government for their failure in various fields. “The BJP government is trying to divide the unity through wrong deeds,” Chodankar said.

Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias complimented freedom fighters for their sacrifice for the independence. “We are enjoying the democratic rights; we have been able to become leaders of this democratic country; it’s all possible because of our freedom fighters,” Dias said. 

The MLA exhorted the Congress workers and locals to maintain unity and harmony with each other. 

He informed that in the coming days, the development works pending in Cuncolim Constituency would kick start. “Rs 8 crore electricity projects and other developmental works would start in the coming days,” Dias assured.
