PANJIM: The JMFC Panjim has issued a fresh notice directing Crime Branch to submit on April 6 a status report of the investigation into the November 27, 2018 trespass and attack on advocate Aires Rodrigues in his office at Ribandar.

The directions came after Crime Branch officials failed to appear as directed by the court and Rodrigues submitted that the politically very influential accused who attacked him were being shielded by the police.

Based on a complaint filed by Rodrigues, Old Goa police on November 28 last year registered an FIR under Sections 452, 341,506,336, 323 read with 34 of Indian Penal Code against Swapnil Dhargalkar, Shreha Dhargalkar and two others for having trespassed and attacked Rodrigues in his office at Ribandar. The investigation was later transferred to Crime Branch.

Stating that the November 27 attack on him was at the instance of a Minister, Rodrigues has sought that the court to monitor the investigation as the accused are politically connected.
