PANJIM: A bizarre theft attempt was foiled by alert Kadamba bus drivers and conductors when a man attempted to flee with an inter-state Kadamba bus early Friday morning.

Panjim police immediately took into custody Uttar Pradesh native Suresh Kumar Nishad following a complaint.

“Some Kadamba bus operators saw this interstate bus being driven out of the bus stand. They found it suspicious as these buses don’t ply in the morning, so they stopped the bus and caught hold of the unidentified driver. They raised an alarm and called the police,” said an official. The bus was parked at platform No 4.

Nishad, aged 28 years, was arrested and confessed to the crime. He currently resides in Satyam Campus, Margao, but is a native of Uttar Pradesh. Police are investigating whether he is involved in similar and/ or other crimes in the State and outside.
