Kanhaiya sentenced to 4-year RI
PANJIM: Goa Children’s Court on Wednesday sentenced a teacher, Kanhaiya Naik, to four years rigorous imprisonment for molesting a minor school girl in 2011.
PANJIM: Goa Children’s Court on Wednesday sentenced a teacher, Kanhaiya Naik, to four years rigorous imprisonment for molesting a minor school girl in 2011.
Naik had been facing charges of molestation and rape of a minor girl but was discharged of rape charges last year.
Based on a complaint filed by the parents of the girl, Police had registered an offence against Naik for molesting and raping a minor. He was later arrested by Panjim Police.
After he was released on bail the girl had committed suicide in July 2012 and had died in hospital. Naik was also facing abetment charges but was discharged of this in April 2016
The incident of sexual abuse came to light after the girl’s parents noticed bruises on her body. After questioning the girl had narrated the incident to parents.
The girl had been taking extra tuitions from Naik at his residence in Ribandar where the incident was reportedly happened as per police records.
