MAPUSA: BJP Porvorim candidate Guru Pawaskar and supporters had a verbal altercation with Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte and supporters at Kharrem Socorro on Monday evening.

However, both groups filed a complaint at Mapusa police station against each other for using abusive language and threatening each other.

After the incident Khaunte along with his supporters rushed to Mapusa police station and filed a complaint stating that he and his supporters were campaigning when the BJP candidate and his supporters came and started abusing them verbally which almost led to physical abuse. He stated that one person and supporters threatened to kill them.

Speaking to reporters Khaunte said, “It was a pre-planned move to instigate us as they have lost ground in Porvorim and also in Goa. We were 500 of us and they were hardly 20-25 of them but we did not want to get into any altercation hence we calmed the situation and moved out.”

Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar said, “Acting on the complaint of Khaunte we have registered a case of rioting and threatening and the other party has approached Porvorim police who will complete the procedure of registering the complaint and later transfer it to us.”
