BICHOLIM: The festive spirit of the people from Sal was dampened by the taps running dry since last two days.

Sal villagers said that since last two days there the taps in the village have been running dry dampening the festive mood of the people. 

“Through its dam, Sal is supplying water to the entire North Goa, but it is surprising that we are not getting water since last two days,” former Zilla Panchayat member Ghanasham Raut lamented.

“We don’t know whether to stay at home and do the arrangements for the festival or wait on the road and fill water from the tankers,” Raut wondered adding, “the government has totally failed and they should do some alternate arrangements during such emergencies. The common man is suffering and so government should take some steps in this matter.”

The women from the village suffered a lot because of water shortage. “We have festivities for seven days and most of the time we wait here on the road for the tankers,” a Sal villager Sakshi Parab said.
