Legal notice to govt over lack of burial grounds
PANJIM: Azad Jamatul Muslimeen Welfare Trust (AJMWT) has served a legal notice on the State government regarding shortage of crematoriums, cemeteries and kabrastans in panchayats across Goa.
AJMWT President Sayed Manzoor Kadri has stated that the shortage of space for last rites is violation of fundamental rights and also against natural justice.
Kadri said that since the Liberation of Goa from 1962, people of Goa have been requesting the MLAs and sarpanchas to solve the problem faced by them.
The organisation has requested for an action taken report to solve the problem in 30 days failing which, it has threatened to file a petition in the High Court to get the problem solved.
