MARGAO: Margao Municipal Chairperson Babita Angle has taken the challenge to solve the sewage outflow problem of the town. After the Herald expose on flowing sewage near Fatima Convent in Margao, the chairperson along with her team got the sewage flow in the drains stopped.

The people of Margao have been dealing with the flowing sewage water from the manholes and drains for the last several years. A similar site can be seen in front of Lily Garment in the parking space of a commercial building housing Swad Hotel. The sewage flow is so much that a lake of sewage has accumulated here. This is the heart of the town and is not expected to be in this state.

Sewage flow in the drain near Fatima Convent School right in the heart of the city which was earlier reported by Herald has been dealt with an iron fist by the chairperson. The chairperson has called for cancellation of licences and action under health and sanitation Acts against the hotels if they are found discharging sewage in open drains in the future.

Rattles were felt in Gogal too and the developer on Friday and Saturday got the flow of sewage in to an open place stopped.
